The Insecure Writer’s Support Group ~ No#140
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer – aim for a dozen new people each time.
The awesome co-hosts for the July 03rd posting of the IWSG are: are: JS Pailly, Rebecca Douglass, Pat Garcia, Louise-Fundy Blue, and Natalie Aguirre!
Don’t forget to visit them and thank them for co-hosting!
Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.
Remember, the question is optional!
July 03rd Question: What is your favorite writing processing software, apps (e.g. Word, Scrivener, yWriter, Dabble, Google Docs, Fictionary, Atticus), and tools? Why does it fit your process? Why do you recommend them? Which is favorite if you have more than one?
I’ve heard of most of these apps but I use good old Word! I also jot down lots of ideas/phrases in the Notes app on my phone.

So I’ve just gotten back to some semblance of normality and I’ve been busy with my online classes as well as writing quite a bit.
I’m working on my short stories and my non-fiction project.
I just need to find my feet… and get into a rhythm.
I read this quote about literary citizenship which I really love.
“Literary citizenship is about the ethics, respect, and generosity with which we treat the work of other writers, and how we lift them and their work up as often as possible while avoiding the capitalist competitiveness that can drive us to see other writers as “in our way” in some giant race to publish our words.”
~Jeannine Ouellette from Writing In The Dark
Happy IWSG Day!
That is a great quote. There is room for all of us.
I think the new features on Facebook will be a hit.
Love that quote, Michelle! I like the new features for the FaceBook group. Take care!
Welcome back! Or did my feed system just not register past posts. Anyway, great features. That will be nice.
Hi Michelle – good luck with all things … you’ve always lots going on. That quote is just brilliant – love it … cheers and happy winter! Hilary
Nice quote! The Facebook stuff sounds like fun, but I’m not on Facebook. 😓
Word Girl here too!
Hi,
I truly love that quote, and you have given me another writing book to read.
Glad that you’re back and getting settled.
Have a Happy Fourth of July.
Shalom shalom
That is a really great quote. I’ve long appreciated the concept of “literary citizenship.” We really aren’t competitors in this business. A more cooperative and collaborative approach is the way to go.
Sounds like you’re busy with good stuff. Good luck finding those feet! 🙂
